Thomas Teyke

By combining an extended scientific career with profound expertise in management consulting, Thomas has delivered innovative solutions to numerous clients within the biotech, pharmaceutical, and device industry. Within these industries, Thomas has supported a range of clients - from start-ups to global, multinational companies - in long-range strategic planning, alignment of R&D strategy with corporate strategy, product and project portfolio optimization, as well as securing and improving market access.

Thomas brings a critical perspective to his client engagements: Recognizing that in healthcare, market success is not only driven by product quality, but, increasingly so, by political, regulatory and other healthcare system constraints. Thomas’ in depth experience with health economics, cost/benefit analyses, reimbursement systems, and the payer landscape becomes an essential component in the development of a holistic strategy for achieving product, business, or corporate success.

Thomas’ expertise with in-depth, quantitative assessments of these external market constraints allows him to create the transparency to enable fact-based corporate decisions and ensure that the organization is properly aligned to take advantage of opportunities to maximize a product or product portfolio success across different markets.

Thomas is based in Cologne, Germany, and given his extensive consulting experience within the key European countries, he provides a European market perspective to Cogent’s engagements – and is well positioned to help non-European companies gain access to and strengthen their presence in the most important European markets.

In addition to his consulting work, Thomas is Professor for Health Economics and Dean/Program Director for Health Economic Studies at Hochschule Fresenius University of Applied Sciences in Cologne, Germany.

Before joining Cogent as an Associated Partner in 2010, Thomas was with Gemini Consulting and Arthur D. Little, leading ADLs Biotech group. Thomas holds a Ph.D. in neurophysiology and has been awarded a Professorship by Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany.
